BEAUTY: BIODERMAL AESTHETICS CLINIC

Hey everyone!

I have discovered a new innovation in skin technology and I’m quite excited to share it with you all.

As many of you may or may not know, I struggle with my skin and suffer severe breakouts from time to time. This is especially hard for me, because as a teenager and quite early into my twenties I never had a pimple before. In my opinion, individuals who have not experienced acne in their teenage years, find it more difficult to deal with acne at a later stage in their life. It is not only the treatment of acne that one has to deal with, but also your self esteem.

Not too long ago, I embarked on a mission in life to clear up my face or at least find the cause and treatment for these breakouts. Around the same time I received an email from Nadhiya, inviting me to the opening of her new Biodermal Aesthetics Clinic, coincidence, maybe? I think destiny!

It was unfortunate that I could not make the opening of the clinic due to exams, but I made it clear to Nadhiya that I would definitely like to visit in the following weeks. We finally set up a consultation and here we are…

The clinic is situated on the corner of Remington and Riverstone Road in Claremont. It is a quaint and peaceful setting with modern accents as you can see.

When I arrived, I met Nadhiya and a representative from Bio – Therapeutic. They both had a look at my skin and we then had a discussion about my lifestyle. I learnt that everything in life affects your skin – from the climate we live in to our digestive systems. During the consultation Nadhiya evaluated my skin, this is very important given that not everyone’s skin is exactly the same and no one treatment works for all skin types. I was however told that my skin has great hydration which is extremely important to sustain it. Below is the BT-analyze which was used to check my hydration levels, I scored between 50 – 54 on the BT-Analyze while optimal hydration is around 65.

The first treatment was a double cleanse followed by a treatment with the BT-micro. The BT-micro is an ultrasonic exfoliation and works by using micro current which leaves the skin feeling smooth, fresh and prepared for product application.

After the product application which is the BT-cocktail as seen above, a Bio-Synthesis light activated rejuvenation system (also known as Light Emitting Diode (LED) was used on my skin. This was created when it was discovered that astronauts who venture into space lack the vitamins that we receive here on Earth from the sun and certain UV rays, the LED therefore replaced what the astronauts were lacking. NASA discovered that it worked so well they created it in smaller sizes and sold it to the beauty industry, because the technology utilises light energy to target the skin. My treatment was specifically used to treat acne, which consists of a combination of yellow and blue lights. The LED does however have a rainbow of lighting colours and they are used for different skin problems from acne to ageing or severe sun damage – the LED has them all covered!

Once my treatment was complete, I received this little travel kit in which to cleanse my skin with on a daily basis. Nadhiya explained that people underestimate the power of exfoliation and that it is important to exfoliate at least three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday (so you’re ready for the weekend!) – exfoliation removes the dead skins cells and unblocks pores which are usually the cause for oil build up and then the development of a pimple.

As you can see in this before and after picture, my skin looks brighter – which was the purpose of the first treatment in order to test the skin and the way it reacts to these treatments. For my next treatment we will start to focus on the scarring from past pimples and acne, the marks will start to lighten and I’ll hopefully be on the way to scarring and acne free skin once again. Throughly enjoying my treatments with Nadhiya, today will be my third treatment and I will be doing a follow up post after the fourth so keep an eye out for my post on how my skin has reacted to the treatments.
