BEAUTY: BIODERMAL AESTHETICS CLINIC

Hey everyone!

I have discovered a new innovation in skin technology and I’m quite excited to share it with you all.

As many of you may or may not know, I struggle with my skin and suffer severe breakouts from time to time. This is especially hard for me, because as a teenager and quite early into my twenties I never had a pimple before. In my opinion, individuals who have not experienced acne in their teenage years, find it more difficult to deal with acne at a later stage in their life. It is not only the treatment of acne that one has to deal with, but also your self esteem.

Not too long ago, I embarked on a mission in life to clear up my face or at least find the cause and treatment for these breakouts. Around the same time I received an email from Nadhiya, inviting me to the opening of her new Biodermal Aesthetics Clinic, coincidence, maybe? I think destiny!

It was unfortunate that I could not make the opening of the clinic due to exams, but I made it clear to Nadhiya that I would definitely like to visit in the following weeks. We finally set up a consultation and here we are…

The clinic is situated on the corner of Remington and Riverstone Road in Claremont. It is a quaint and peaceful setting with modern accents as you can see.

When I arrived, I met Nadhiya and a representative from Bio – Therapeutic. They both had a look at my skin and we then had a discussion about my lifestyle. I learnt that everything in life affects your skin – from the climate we live in to our digestive systems. During the consultation Nadhiya evaluated my skin, this is very important given that not everyone’s skin is exactly the same and no one treatment works for all skin types. I was however told that my skin has great hydration which is extremely important to sustain it. Below is the BT-analyze which was used to check my hydration levels, I scored between 50 – 54 on the BT-Analyze while optimal hydration is around 65.

The first treatment was a double cleanse followed by a treatment with the BT-micro. The BT-micro is an ultrasonic exfoliation and works by using micro current which leaves the skin feeling smooth, fresh and prepared for product application.

After the product application which is the BT-cocktail as seen above, a Bio-Synthesis light activated rejuvenation system (also known as Light Emitting Diode (LED) was used on my skin. This was created when it was discovered that astronauts who venture into space lack the vitamins that we receive here on Earth from the sun and certain UV rays, the LED therefore replaced what the astronauts were lacking. NASA discovered that it worked so well they created it in smaller sizes and sold it to the beauty industry, because the technology utilises light energy to target the skin. My treatment was specifically used to treat acne, which consists of a combination of yellow and blue lights. The LED does however have a rainbow of lighting colours and they are used for different skin problems from acne to ageing or severe sun damage – the LED has them all covered!

Once my treatment was complete, I received this little travel kit in which to cleanse my skin with on a daily basis. Nadhiya explained that people underestimate the power of exfoliation and that it is important to exfoliate at least three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday (so you’re ready for the weekend!) – exfoliation removes the dead skins cells and unblocks pores which are usually the cause for oil build up and then the development of a pimple.

As you can see in this before and after picture, my skin looks brighter – which was the purpose of the first treatment in order to test the skin and the way it reacts to these treatments. For my next treatment we will start to focus on the scarring from past pimples and acne, the marks will start to lighten and I’ll hopefully be on the way to scarring and acne free skin once again. Throughly enjoying my treatments with Nadhiya, today will be my third treatment and I will be doing a follow up post after the fourth so keep an eye out for my post on how my skin has reacted to the treatments.

BEAUTY: Lipidol

LIPIDOL LAUNCH

I’m so excited to tell you guys about my latest obsession, it is called LIPIDOL and it is an amazing oil based skincare that becomes apart of your everyday life, about three weeks ago I received an invitation to the Lipidol launch that included a bottle of their aftershower oil, I ran out of body lotion and decided to use the aftershower oil – I was hooked! This product is an extension from bio oil, it is definitely the future of skincare, your skin soaks the aftershower oil right up, no oiliness, just pure moisturisation.

Lipidol got it’s name from the layer of oil your skin naturally produces, it is called the Lipid bilayer of the skin. The Lipid bilayer offers protection, it creates an envelope housing the cellular components (I don’t really understand this ) – but basically some cells, such as plant cells, have a cell wall which offers further protection, this product offers protection and seals the mositure naturally within your skin.

The outermost layer of the skin is an oily layer. Its purpose is to hold moisture in the skin; an important function because moisture facilitates enzyme activity, which in turn leads to healthy, radiant skin. There are however occasions when moisture does escape. The main culprit is daily washing with soap, which strips away the skin’s oily layer. Another is a dry climate, which draws moisture from the skin into the outside air. Also, as the skin ages it produces less oil and it becomes harder to hold moisture in the skin. It is not possible to replace lost moisture by applying moisture to the skin as the skin’s moisture comes from within. The advantage of using oil in everyday skincare is that the skin’s natural oily layer is continually supplemented.

Lipidol didn’t only come out with one product but a whole range of them:

The Lipidol products are packaged in sealed plastic wrappers, pioneering a move away from cartons, which originated in the era when product information needed to be available in-store, Lipidol felt that the carton was a waste of paper, the plastic is seal proof therefore making the product untouchable until you arrive at home – how many people don’t open products to test and smell them and then you end up purchasing it and taking it home.

Lipidol is truly a pioneer with their new skincare range, they will be changing the landscape of skincare forever, Lipidol took a combination of oils and made them work much harder, the potency of the oils are outstanding. The range is totally natural, essential oils that were functional and representative of it’s use were used to achieve the auroma of the product, each product having it’s own unique and natural smell, finally plant and food extracts were used to achieve the colours of the oils.

After hearing how amazing this product is I know you’re all wondering how much it might cost, the team at Lipidol once again set out to make this product not just amazing but affordable. The products are going for R79,95 each whether it’s the 200ml aftershower oil or the 50ml overnight face oil – the whole product range all have the same amazingly affordable price!

I had such an amazing time at this launch getting to hear about the eight year long journey that it took to bring this product to life, the thought and belief behind it was truly inspirational. This is for sure my newest obsession, it is such an amazing product and I can’t stop raving about it. Lipidol was released on the 8 September here in South Africa – my birthday is on the 5 October – four out the six products are on my birthday wishlist lol!
