About two weeks ago I sat down with the brand ambassador of Conitreau, Lungi Mandla. Cointreau and Lungi invited me to The Grand Beach Cafe' for some cocktails and a light lunch (I had three slices of pizza of course). I found Lungi to be a beautiful, warm and friendly person who was so easy to conversate with.
Lungi definitely lives the brand as I asked her question after question and all her answers referred back to Cointreau, how to make the brand better or get the name out there. I sat down with her for about 10 minutes chatting and listening to the extraordinary job that she has. From what I understand, a brand ambassador is usually someone with influence and or a huge following who promotes or indorses a product, service or company that they believe in.
In Lungi's case it’s the same thing but at the same time it is a full time job and she tends to influence people in a different way. She travels around the country, attending and setting up events which Cointreau sponsors, creating brand awareness in bars, restaurants and clubs that meets Cointreau’s target market. Lungi educates people about the brand wherever she goes and does this through living and breathing all things Cointreau. This definitely sounds like the type of brand ambassador I'm willing to be.
Finally to end off on a light note I asked Lungi what her favourite Cointreau drink was and she said the classic Cointreau Fizz variant that consists of freshly squeezed limes and a fountain of soda water. Trust me all the Cointreau cocktails are great, you should go out and try one, Cointreau can be found at most places around Cape Town.
