Not too long ago I attended the Summer preview of one of the world’s most loved sandal brands, Havaianas. I attended the event along side well known media moguals and many local celebrities, it took places at one of the hottest summer venues in Cape Town known as Café Caprice in Camps Bay.
The collection that will be available in-store in November 2014, my favourite designs were definitely the Snoop, Mickey mouse, Minion and Swarosvski pairs. Flamingo’s, pineapples, banana leaves and ice-lollies were the backdrop to the extensive collection that boasts something for everyone.
According to Brett Solomon, Brand Manager for Havaianas, “It’s not un-common for people to have up to five pairs of Havaianas. Each season we introduce a series of collaborations that appeal to a diverse segment of people. Yes, there are the classics and the colour-blocked, but the footbed of Havaianas represents a canvas for expression and what you wear says a lot about you.”
Whilst the sandal may be the iconic style, Havaianas have shown themselves to be a lot more than simply a flip-flop brand. The launch featured the recently introduced espadrille in a selection of hot summer colours, the plimsole in canvas and leather and most recently, the Havaianas rainboot, just in time for the summer festival season. I’m extremely excited about the rain boot, as you all know I’m obsessed with my Hunter boots and these Havaianas rain boots bring some vibrant colours and fun prints, they come in both adult and kids sizes.
I spent the afternoon sipping on coconut water, drinking refreshing cocktails, I had a pedicure done and chose the colour red (so typical) lol, and at the end of the event I left with my very own pair of Havaianas, an amazing afternoon spent with great people in the most beautiful city in the world.
