Ford South Africa flew an awesome bunch of people to Port Elizabeth ‘PE’ to celebrate the launch of their new Ford Focus. After some bad turbulence I was happy to have my feet on solid ground – touchdown in PE!

We stayed at the Radisson Blu which happen to be on the beach front. As we checked it we were given our Ford media packs along with a pair of navy blue Supergas (so cute). Once I got to my room I took fives to settle in and freshen up before I headed down to Tabu’ for lunch. I was so hungry! You know I’m hungry when I don’t even bother snapping a picture of my food for Instagram lol.

The evening kicked off with some business which amounted to a short presentation on the new Ford Focus. After all the bidness lol we were chauffeured to the harbor where we were greeted by the new Focus cars and an awesome looking party boat.

We boarded the Jester cruise boat and were welcomed by a party. As the night went by we sailed the harbor and sat down for dinner. I must admit that sailing and eating is not something I can do, the rocking of the boat from side to side didn’t help at all. Oh! Let me not forget about the humidity of the weather in PE hahaha! Most girls had it rough and let me say it was really bad on the boat.

Woke up, got dressed and missed breakfast (I didn’t check the itinerary). After grabbing a quick croissant we paired up and hit the road with in the new Ford Focus. Each pair received a book filled with instructions for the drive ahead. I drove first and Jasna was my co-driver.

We headed out along the garden route in PE; we had beautiful scenery, lots of mist and an animal here and there. Jasna and I missed the switch point, once we realized I pulled over the side of the road so that we could switch. This was quite wreckless as we changed seats we realized that there was a family of about seven baboons not too far down the road from us, anyway we survived lol!

Once we reached the lunch spot (Padlangs Country Restaurant) I wasn’t that hungry due to a late breakfast. The food was great though and I loved the quirky and vintage feel of the place. There were many things for sale and many old items on display. After lunch we switched cars, loaded our luggage and departed on the long drive back to the airport.

Upon arrival we checked in, said bye to the Ford team and off we went. It was a short but totally awesome two days.

Thank you to the Ford South Africa team <3

I loved driving this car, it was comfortable and smooth. I love that it has power without you really knowing it. There are two usb ports (Thank the Lord!) they are 12 watts each and it charged my phone in no time (this is such a bog pro for me). Ford totally re-designed the interior, it’s finely crafted and lots of thought went into the new interior. There is so much space, you feel as if you have room to strech and the boot is quite large.

The car is good looking but I wouldn’t say it’s the sexiest car around. I think that it looks better in a colour, like the ruby red one we drove back to the airport (above) or the blue that can be seen below. The main thing about this car is that Ford pulled together all their resources to bring you a car that is cheaper than its predecessor.

The new Focus debuts hands-free Perpendicular Parking, helps drivers reverse into spaces side-to-side with other cars. The new powertrain line-up delivers fuel efficiency improvements of up to 19 percent, includes award-winning 1.0 EcoBoost and 1.5-litre EcoBoost engines.

“We weren’t satisfied with being No. 1; we wanted to make the best even better with a stunning new version of the Focus,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa. The new Focus marries modern design, advanced technology and leading fuel efficiency with the fun-to-drive DNA for which Focus is rightly acclaimed.”
