This past weekend Hishaam and I had the pleasure of staying at the Blaauwberg Beach Hotel (BBH) , it’s the first of it’s kind in this area and I can’t believe it has taken so long for a hotel to open up at this location. The first thing to note about the BBH are the views, 360 degree, panoramic views of the ocean and Table Mountain from every room in the hotel. This is the most amazing view you can find of our beautiful Table Mountain, which is one of the seven wonders of the world for those of you who didn’t know.
We checked in on the Friday evening and were greeted by their amazingly friendly staff. The first impression you get from the hotel is that it is pristine. As you enter you’ll find their restaurant, Waves, on your left and a beautiful room filled with art on your right. The art room is available if you’d like to take a little break and view some of the pieces or if you’d like like to have a quiet space to think or have a meeting. The foyer of the hotel is white with hints of colour all over, I truly loved this. It speaks to my aesthetics.
The room itself was large and it had an open plan concept. I throughly enjoyed this because if you were in the mood to take a bath you could do so while chatting to your partner or watching something on television. Our room was equipped with everything we needed and the balcony was definitely the highlight as it opened up to the most insane view of the sea and Table Mountain. I was pleasantly surprised when opening the shower door as I love anything that sparkles (see images above).
A lot of eating and drinking took place over the weekend. The breakfast buffet has everything you need and more. You’re able to order straight off the menu or make use of the buffet laid out for all guests. They have special breakfasts like pancakes which not all hotels usually offer. Hishaam and I absolutely became obsessed with their pizzas, we had a total of three during our stay. We had the parma ham and rocket pizza which was excellent but the one that stole our hearts was their calamari, chili and ginger pizza, we ordered this twice and even took some home with us.
Currently the BBH doesn’t have a liquor license but they do allow guests to bring their own alcohol along and currently they’re serving some amazing mocktails. The Malawi Shandy was my favourite and Hishaam kept ordering the Rock Shandy so I’m sure he loved it.
One thing I can’t forget to mention is the wait-staff, they were friendly and went out of their way to make our experience and stay pleasurable. Thanks to Justin who made our meal experiences even better thank expected. Such a cool guy.
As you guys know Cape Town weather is extremely insane and we can easily experience all four seasons in one day. Blouberg is also known for it’s cold and strong winds but there are those days when we get those perfect conditions. Unfortunately for us, we’re transitioning into autumn and we had a bit of a cold weekend. This disappointed me so much because the BBH has three pools for you to either dip in or swim laps, which ever you prefer. They have a pool for every kind of swimmer, I think the one pool might even be perfect for kids as it’s not too deep.
Nonetheless Hishaam and I still made our way down to the pool deck and chilled out there so we could at least experience it and once we got there, the wind couldn't actually reach us.
Thank you to the Blaauwberg Beach Hotel and their amazing team for the stay. We had a brilliant time. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that you’ll go and try there calamari pizza some time or event go stay for the weekend. You won’t regret it!
I created a little video of our stay on IGTV, it shows some things that this post doesn’t exactly cover. Check it out by clicking HERE.
