It’s winter in Cape Town so I know it’s terribly difficult to leave the house due to freezing your cute little ass off but I found a good enough reason to get you dressed and out of the house. About two weeks ago I popped in at Souk (as I do), some of you might remember that with my birthday last year they sold the “Jaded” cocktail (my very own cocktail) for the entire month of October which was super cool and fun. Also, if you’ve been to Souk before you know they always have a crackling fire going, the place is cosy and warm and gives you even more reason to visit during colder days.
When I recently visited I went for some tapas and was happy to discover that added six new tapas to their menu, Souk’s food is what comfort food is made of. It’s so delicious I thought I’d share this lovely news with all of you.
These are the lovely additions to their tapas menu:
SMOKED SALMON BLINIS
Crostini crust topped with Smoked Salmon, herbed Sour Cream and Salmon Caviar with a Balsamic Reduction.
Specialty Crumbed Drumlets with a Wasabi Aioli dip.
MUSHROOMS AND GOAT CHEESE TORTELLINI
Tortellini filled with Mushrooms and herbed Goat Cheese served on a Butternut Purée, sautéed Asparagus and Mushrooms finished with Souk Hollandaise sauce, which was a favourite for me, so delicious, I got it twice.
BEEF FILLET ROULADE
Souk marinated Beef Fillet stuffed with Feta, Peppadew and Mange Tout served with Onion Marmalade and a Verjuice Béarnaise sauce.
SEARED SCALLOPS AND PROSCIUTTO CRUDO
Scallops seared in Garlic Butter and Souk spice served on a Cardamom Pea Purée, Prosciutto and Watercress finished with Cumin Foam
INDO BEEF KEBAB
Grilled Sirloin cubes in an Indonesian marinate served with a Salsa Verde dip.
My favourite time to visit is always during the week because not everyone knows this but Souk has half price tapas every Wednesday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm and if this isn’t good enough news then you should know that their Signature and Classic cocktails are half price too.
If during the week isn’t your vibe and you’d rather be out on the weekend then you’ll be happy to know that every Saturday from 3PM – 6PM, they have half-price on all Tapas and Bottomless Pongrácz bubbly at R200 per person.
